Norway’s Ambassador to Tanzania last day in Tanzania

The Norwegian Ambassador to Tanzania, Mr Jon Lomøy, met President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete on Wednesday, March 31st 2010, to bid farewell as he is leaving his post in Dar es Salaam. Mr Lomøy has been assigned as Director of Development Co-operation Directorate within the OECD in Paris, where he will continue to work with development issues.
Jon Lomøy came to Tanzania first time in 1979 as a student and has since then had several official postings in the country and the region. In January 2007 he came back as the Norwegian Ambassador to Tanzania, and has since then played a very active role both on mainland and on Zanzibar. As Ambassador he has been specially engaged in issues related to infrastructure, health, energy and climate change.
Mr Lomøy and his wife Inger Johanne have given priority to visit large parts of the country during their time in Tanzania, and the Ambassador has been highly dedicated to the development cooperation between Tanzania and Norway, as well as the regional cooperation. Promotion of Tanzanian culture and culture cooperation between Tanzania and Norway has also had a high priority.
His work has been highly appreciated, and the Embassy wishes him the best of luck in his new job.
