On June 28th 2007 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Norwegian Embassy in Dar es Salaam and the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education (SIU) entered into an Agreement about the Tanzania-Norway NUFU Programme, which aims to support academic co-operation in the area of management of natural resources, forestry, fisheries and/or wildlife, with a focus on good governance and a reliable public administration.
- Contributing to improved governance in the management of natural resources in Tanzania is a priority area for Norway, says the Minister Counsellor at the Norwegian Embassy, Kristin Sverdrup.
Norway has been supporting the development of natural resources management in Tanzania since the 1970s. The current support through the Management of Natural Resources Programme (MNRP) started in 1994 and ended December 31st 2006.
