Hydropower negotiations

Last updated: 09/11/2009 // Staff of the Tanzanian Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Tanesco and Rural Energy Agency has completed a special course in negotiation techniques, facilitated by the International Centre for Hydropower (ICH) and funded by Norway.

The new and special course in Negotiation Techniques under the ICH’s umbrella was arranged in Dar es Salaam from 19th to 30th October 2009. The importance of the training in energy sector negotiations was emphasized by the Norwegian Ambassador, Mr. Jon Lomøy, when he opened the seminar 19 October.   

The course was aiming at the art of negotiating contracts related to hydropower development.
A team of 20 persons had intensive session the first week where the fundamentals of negotiations were lectured. After one week the team divided in groups that did a role playing itself.

The negotiation techniques were presented by Pål Mellquist, Truls Holtedal, Jan Cederwall, Robert James Kay and Ralph Kaarhammar.
