The Norwegian government has  signed an agreement with NELSAP an arm of Nile Basin Initiative in December 2009 to finance a feasibility study for the interconnection of a power line between Kenya and Tanzania at a cost of $3.4 million. The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar and the Government of the Kingdom of Norway signed an agreement in August 2008 where Norway agreed to provide funds for the Tanga – Pemba Sub Sea Cable Project.
