Visa requirements - Royal Norwegian Embassy Dar es Salaam

Tanzanian citizens who wish to visit Norway need to apply for a visa - and need to be aware of the requirements when it comes to travel insurance.

What must be enclosed with the application:

  • Cover letter you received as confirmation on your e-mail  (PDF attachment) after you registered your application and booked time for submitting documents at Application Portal
  • If children under the age of 18 travel alone or without both parents, a written consent from the parents – or remaining parent - must be submitted.
  • One passport size photo in color with white background.  The photo must not be older than 3 months
  • Written and signed invitation from the person you are to visit in Norway (sponsor)
  • Documentation of relationship, if you are to visit a family member
  • Documentation of own funds available for you in Schengen for the stay (NOK 500 for each day of your stay in Norway) or a signed guarantee form http://www.udi.no/Global/UPLOAD/Skjema/VisumBesok/Garantiskjema_skrivbart.pdf  (sent to you by the sponsor) that is stamped and signed by the police in Norway.  This form must be in original.
  • If it is an official visit you need an introduction letter from your employer and an invitation from the institution, company, university or organization in Norway.  One of these letters (invitation or introduction) must contain information about who covers the expenses in connection with the trip.  The Embassy will also need a direct confirmation on e-mail - use emb.daressalaam@mfa.no - from the inviting partner in Norway
  • Documentation of valid travel and medical insurance (minimum coverage of EURO 30.000).  Please note that a period of grace of 15 days has been added to the visa validity period.  For example, if an applicant wishes to travel to Norway (or Schengen) from 1st June – 10th June, the visa will be valid for 10 days, and the visa’s validity period will be June 1st – June 25th (number of days applied for, plus the period of grace that is 15 additional days):  The visa holder will have to have a travel insurance valid for 10 days within June 1st – June 25th.
  • Fee - you must pay a case-processing fee regardless of the outcome of your application.  This fee, currently 60 EURO, is non-refundable

It may strengthen your application if you enclose documentation of your ties to your home country.  Examples of documentation may be birth certificates of your children, a marriage certificate, a contract of employment and a proof that you own property.

THE EMBASSY/CONSULATE WILL NOT ACCEPT APPLICATIONS THAT ARE NOT COMPLETE 
THE PROCESSING TIME STARTS AT THE MOMENT THE EMBASSY/CONSULATE HAS ACCEPTED THE APPLICATION
